Chocolate of the week!

Love it! Avenue Road, Freshwater's Belgian Chocolate of the week this week is the "White Chocolate Flaked Truffle"

The smooth white chocolate truffle mixture is enrobed in white chocolate and then smothered in white flakes of more white chocolate. When you bite it you will experience a satisfying ‘crack’ of chocolate, and then you come to the smooth truffle inside. At least a two bite chocolate!

Yummmmmmmmmm!

The Bridal Fayre was a huge success at Gurnard Pines, not only did Gardenia Florists take 3 confirmed bookings on the day, with deposits, but two more brides have subsequently booked consultations! One of them is coming to us to discuss her Chocolate Favours...we can place one or more chocolates of her choosing into a gold box, wrapped in a bow to match her theme; or two or more chocolates. She is popping in for a chocolate tasting and chat.......can't wait to go through each chocolate with her and show her how we can finish them with organza ribbons etc. Yummmmmmmmmmm.....I get to eat them too!

Turkish Delight

The story of how Turkish delight came to be begins in the late 1700’s when the then sultan kept breaking his teeth on hard sweets so sent his court confectioner away to create a softer sweet.  He mixed water, sugar, corn starch, cream of tartar and rosewater, cooked it up, poured the mixture into a flat pan slicked with almond oil, and let it cool. Then he sprinkled it with powdered sugar, cut it into bite-sized chunks. Rahat lokum ("comfortable morsel"), nowadays called simply lokum, or Turkish Delight, was an instant hit, especially at the palace. Over the centuries Ali Muhiddin's descendants (the shop is still owned by the family) fiddled with the recipe, adding good things like walnuts, pistachios, oranges, almonds, clotted cream, and of course chocolate. The plain rosewater original is still a favourite, however. Love It! stocks lots of Turkish Delight, pop in and see us and of course the Turkish Delight. It is the best as we get it from Turkey!
